From Homeless to Hopeful
Consider the toll that abandonment takes on animals. They are scared, hungry, lonely and oftentimes sick. These innocent creatures who help make the world a better place deserve gentle care, respect, dignity and a loving home. They deserve HOPE.
A No-Kill Shelter
HOPE Animal Shelter provides a no-kill haven for abandoned dogs and cats while they await adoption. It offers a clean, loving environment that allows socialization and a smoother transition into a permanent home. HOPE ensures that they are well cared for both emotionally and physically during this trying time in their lives.
We absolutely will not put any animal to sleep unless they are suffering. The sick and injured are nurtured and given veterinary care until they are adoptable. Elderly animals or those with long term illnesses are treated with dignity and are well taken care of until they find good homes.
Foundation of Loving Kindness
HOPE Animal Shelter is built on the foundation of Ahimsa, a Sanskrit word whose literal meaning is “non-violence.” Ahimsa also has an infinitely higher meaning. It signifies a great spiritual force of peace and selfless love.
Mahatma Gandhi used Ahimsa to describe the way humans should behave toward all animals – with kindness, gentleness, respect, and active non-violence.
HOPE Animal Shelter proudly embraces the values of Ahimsa and operates on its principles.
Mission of HOPE
- To foster respect for all animal life by providing a safe haven for unwanted animals in a no-cage shelter.
- To provide an environment that allows optimal physical and emotional enrichment for animals during their stay at the shelter.
- To end euthanasia of unwanted animals by encouraging responsible adoptions, forming spay/neuter programs, and educating the public.
Testimonial
Thank you for making animals available at PetSmart. I adopted Lizzie almost one week ago and she is wonderful. She didn’t even seem like she needed an adjustment time. She answers us when we speak to her and knows when I need to pet her. I call her from the other side of the mobile home and she comes to me. I just love her. Thanks.
