Big handsome Smoky enjoys spending time up on a perch…but he has to be careful, because he just might roll off as he makes every effort to get you to pet him. Smoky finds himself at HOPE for the second time; he first came to the shelter when he was a tiny kitten, four years ago. He and one of his litter mates were adopted, but then had to come back to HOPE when their owner went into a nursing home. He thought it was pretty scary to come back to HOPE, and his hope is that he finds his forever home soon.

This is the second time Max has been at HOPE; he first came to the shelter as a very young kitten 4 years ago. He and one of his litter-mates found a home, but sadly their owner had to give them up when entering a nursing home. He is one of the most affectionate fellows you’ll every meet; be prepared for lots and lots of kitty love from this big guy.

Scooby

Remember Scooby? He is now known as Ben, and is living a wonderful life with his new family too! We also received a photo of him joyfully running with his canine companion Annie. It looks like he found his perfect home. We’re so happy for you Ben!

Chester

I want to let you know that Chester is settling in beautifully with our family!

He sleeps with my 15-year old daughter at night and he usually sleeps upside down so he seems to be quite relaxed. He loves to play and to give kisses. We go for lots of walks and he does great on a leash and in a crate. He gets very excited when anyone goes into the kitchen but we are sticking to dog food for him. He has dry food available to him all the time and we make a ‘breakfast’ and ‘dinner’ of wet food mixed with some dry.

We had a vet visit on Saturday and he is going to our groomer tomorrow. He has been sleeping near me while I work this morning. He is such a love and we are so happy to have him.

Our 11 year old son loves to play with Chester and has found that Chester is very good at retrieving balls – he pounces on the ball! Our cat, Gypsie, is doing well with him. She is around him a lot and gives him a hiss if he gets a little too squirrely.

Thank you for helping us to add Chester to our family. There is a picture attached – we will send more.

Victoria

Sweet Victoria is camera shy, but you can still see what a lovely little dog she is. Victoria gets along with other small dogs, and is very affectionate with her humans. She came to HOPE from PACC, and now would like to find the perfect forever home that she can trust will always be hers. Donny-Adopted

Donny is a special guy in need of a little extra TLC. Donny has retinal degeneration; at this point it is causing a visual impairment, and the vet believes he will be blind within a year. Dogs typically adapt quite well to things like this. Donny could benefit from having all small dog companions to help his learn, but this is not necessary. Donny needs someone who will love and accept him for who he is, and who will give him any extra support he might need to adjust to life with his condition. The vet said Donny will likely develop cataracts as he gets older, but because of his existing visual impairment he won’t require surgery for them. Donny is very sweet, and will make a wonderful companion for the right person.

This distinguished gentleman is Manny. Manny spent a long life out on the streets, and came to HOPE as a senior. He has been grateful for the soft beds, medical care, and regular meals that he has been provided with at the shelter. Wouldn’t it be wonderful for Manny to know what it means to have a home and family of his own? If you would appreciate having an independent senior join your household, please consider giving Manny the home he has never had.
