Get Involved
Volunteers are essential and we could not help the many dogs and cats without your contribution – thank you! There are many soothing hands and dedicated hearts that go into rescuing dogs and cats. HOPE Animal Shelter realizes that everyone has various amounts of time and skills to offer and we appreciate everyone for their efforts great and small. Please peruse the list to see where you fit in and what you can do to help. Applicants must be over 18 years of age. Then fill out our Volunteer Application to get started.
Fostering
Pet socialization is a key component to successful adoption. Fostering is especially beneficial if your situation doesn’t allow for adoption of an animal at this time in your life. Fostering is one of the greatest gifts you can give to a pet. Many special needs animals need time to recover from surgeries or illness and the best solution is in a home. Fosters are also needed for Moms and babies until they are old enough to be adopted. Fostering is one of the greatest gifts you can give a pet. Learn more about Fostering.
Adoption Counselor
Being an adoption counselor is one of the most gratifying volunteer positions. This entails speaking and counseling with prospective adopters so that a forever match is made. Reviewing paperwork and most important is the follow-up phone call. You will receive on the job training at the Petsmart location.
Transporting
There are times when the animals need to be taken to and from adoption events, spay/neuter appointments and we always need volunteers to help transport back and forth to Petsmart.
Fundraising Events
Join our HOPE Happenings Committee to help plan or just work individual events. Volunteers are always needed at events to set-up/breakdown, help the public, cashier, etc. We also need help with tabling at events. Here you would hand out materials and educate the public about HOPE.
Cleaning
The dog and cat kennels are cleaned every morning. Our yard needs to be scooped and laundry needs to be done. There are several shifts throughout the day to accomodate your schedules.
Office Work
There is work that could be done from your own home. Thank you cards need to be written. Data bases kept current and with training you can enter adoptions in our online Adoption Program.
